As in many other countries the Dutch healthcare system is faced with huge challenges. Growing demand, an aging population, staff shortages and growing costs put increasing strains on the health-ecosystem. Digitalization is generally seen as the most effective fix for these issues. However, digital care brings its own problems, such as lack of interoperability and vendor lock in. In an effort to solve these issues the Netherlands has been vacillating between a bottom up approach and a top down policy.
'Fast tracking Health IT (HIT), bottom up or top down? - The Dutch Experience' offers an introduction into the Dutch digital health-ecosystem and aims to help healthcare- and tech-professionals who consider entering the EU-market. Healthcare entrepreneurs Karel Loerts and Hakan Polat offer their perspective on the issues at hand. Loerts has extensive managerial experience in the field of digital imaging in hospitals. Polat is a pioneer of digital medical education.
The Focus Group Meeting has an interactive character and is a must do for anyone who appreciates the first-hand exchange of knowledge, insight and experience in the digital healthdomain.
