Prof. Amr Jamal is a passionate leader in family medicine and clinical informatics. He is dedicated to enhancing healthcare through technology and innovation. As Chairman of the Family & Community Medicine Department at King Saud University (KSU) since 2018, he combines hands-on experience with a visionary approach. Amr has spearheaded transformative digital health projects, including two cycles of SCFHS strategic plans, Oman's national digital health transformation, and SCOT's digital transformation plan. He led the development of the Saudi Health Informatics Competency Framework and contributed to the Saudi guidelines for Telemedicine and Telehealth accreditation standards. Internationally, Amr co-founded ZIMAM, the Digital Health Workforce Development Association in Geneva and the World Health Organization (WHO). Recognized as a HIMSS Future50 Healthcare IT Leader, he holds a master’s in biomedical & health informatics from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), an MBA, CPHIMS certified, and Leading Digital Transformation in Health Care from Harvard Medical School, and ongoing MBA with Healthcare Concentration from Jack Welch Management Institute (JWMI). Amr is a Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (FIAHSI) and has authored two books, three book chapters, 100+ peer-reviewed articles, and numerous abstracts and conference proceedings. He excels in AI, enterprise architecture, data-driven transformation, digital risk management, business continuity, data governance, and digital maturity assessment in healthcare. Honored with the King Abdulaziz Medal of Merit, Amr also serves as a Research Chair Supervisor at King Saud University. His contributions extend to hackathons and digital risk management initiatives. Amr represents Saudi Arabia at the Global Digital Health Partnership (GDHP), where he currently serves as a member of the Clinical and Human Engagement workstream. Outside of work, Amr enjoys horse riding, calisthenics, martial arts, traveling, exploring new cultures, and learning new languages. His mission is to integrate technology and healthcare, improving public health and patient outcomes through streamlining healthcare processes.
